Basics of Texas Language

Everyone knows about y'all (everyone who matters) and boot-scootin (dancing) and dogies (little cattle), But you probably don't understand other common colloquialisms such as the fact that if a word has 2 syllables in regular English it probably has at least three in Tx if not more.
For instance, pee-on-cil is a pencil and a wa-ill is well ( a very key word in TX). To use it in a sentence " Wa-ill, if I had a pee-on-cill I could woo-urk ( work) the thangs on the tee-est(test). Other words are just different altogether. One would be card. Now you think you know what a card is but here it is used as " If ah (I) could fond (find) me a extension card (cord) Aye would plug in the blender for some magareetas Margaritas, which are great in every language.
That's your first lesson in Texan Language. When I first moved here I answered a lot of questions like, honey how ya feeeelin"? I would answer, "Fine". Finally I asked why everyone was so concerned about my health. A good friend from Oklahoma cued me in. She explained the everyone think I'm a Texan with a head cold. Everyone here seems to believe that an Okie sounds just like a Texan with a head cold. OK, in Oklahoma we do use some common words and sayings. I have never owned a wash cloth, but have had a lot of warsh cloths and warsh rags both in Oklahoma and Texas. I have gone feeshing ( fishing) in both states but in Oklahoma went to a crick (creek) or a pond. Here you go "salt" or "fresh" at a farm tank or the beach.
There are other things that vary. For instance I have never know anyone to ask anyone "if they sucked the heads?". It took me completely off my feet until I realized that they were referring to crawfish (in Oklahoma, crawdads or crayfish). I replied on I understood that I didn't wouldn't and that in Oklahoma we used them as bait and that we rarely ate our bait. That's it we have to carry some folks out to dinner ( take someone out to dinner) but we will surely have to keep the winders turned up because of the allergies fresh air is know to cause to the woman.
